| 22nd Annual
GDHS Art & Craft Sale- October 24-25, 2009
The weekend of October 24-25th was a pretty exciting
weekend to be at Georgetown District High School! Following months
of preparation, the Annual Art & Craft Sale was held. Approximately
$10,200 was raised, with the proceeds being split between 10 departments
and 14 teams/clubs! The office is hoping to purchase a colour printer
with some of the proceeds- this will benefit all departments in
the school. Many thanks are due to the staff, students and parents
who worked to insure the success of the sale!
Thank you to – Carol Davin, who kept everyone on track; to
Mr. Sam Assad, who supported and contributed ideas during the year;
to Mrs. Patti Bodig, who recruited and organized staff; to Mr. Dan
Estevan, who organized Student Parliament students and helped put
up & take down signage; to Mr. Steve Skrovonek, who maintained
the Craft Sale web site and created the template used for posters
for the Craft Sale; to Mr. Darren Mansfield, who expertly prepared
the chili for vendors & customers served on the weekend; to
Mrs. Gerri Brent and the Foods’ classes who prepared muffins
and apple crisp that was also served to vendors and customers; to
Mr. Bob Attrell & the Art Club students who organized and ran
the Draw Table; to Mrs. Wendy Chandler, Donna Irwin and Michelle
Keenie, office staff, who communicated with vendors over the past
year and prepared vendor packages; to Mike Coulter & Devon Booth,
student alumni, who returned again this year to help with electrical
hook ups and signage. Thank you also, to the many other staff members
and parents who were involved, helping with set up, take down and
supervising students! Thank you to the hundreds of students who
volunteered their time and energy!
A special thanks to Miss Liz Colter, our student Prime Minister,
who worked tirelessly organizing Student Parliament students as
they served food and prepared announcements throughout the weekend!
