THE
GDHS STORY
Currently
in our 122th year, our present student and staff of
over 1600 believe in a high degree of commitment to both
school and community. We value an educational environment where
all who are willing can learn and achieve excellence, both
academically and co-curricularly. We demonstrate caring and
commitment as citizens not only to our school but
also in our involvement in the Georgetown community as a whole.
GDHS
has a wide variety of programs and courses available to its students. These
programs prepare students for university, colleges, apprenticeships or
other forms of post-secondary training. GDHS is an International
Baccalaureate school. Our first set of students wrote their
exams in May with great success! We have a demonstrated record of
achieving excellence in the field of Academics, Technology and
the Arts and also place a strong emphasis on school-to-work
transition programs for students wishing to choose this career
path. We
are the “Home of the Rebels”
and have a strong tradition in the area of school athletics.
GDHS has achieved district, regional and provincial awards in
many sports, such as volleyball, swimming, basketball, hockey
and wrestling to name a few.
The
history of GDHS is integral to history of the Georgetown.
